One other reason that drove me to pursue a professional career in jet skiing was my brother Abdullah, he was one of Kuwait’s first Jet Ski Champions, winning a range of local, regional and international awards.

He encouraged me to compete on a professional level and once Abdullah retired in 2006, I did.

The initial steps were all taken at our family’s chalet at the age of 13, racing the Jet Ski and also experimenting with ATV’s, until today I am amazed how far I have come from these days.

Throughout my journey racing ATV’s and Jet Skis, I met many other guys, who all shared the same passion, this passion has built a strong bond between us.

The sport has brought us together and until today we support each other.

“Skinny Mo” a nickname that was given to me by a sports commentator during a race and until today is being frequently used.

My first local tournament was in 2006 at the age of 16, winning the first place, followed by a Gulf Tournament in UAE, where I managed the podium with a 3rd place in the expert category.

In 2007, I entered my first International Tournament in Arizona, USA. Winning in the beginner category in the age of 18.

It has now been 11 years and I can tell you, I have not had enough just yet, I feel I have more to offer and more to achieve, while I am still full of passion and abilities.

Having such a active athletic career, I manage my life and day job pretty well, balancing the two with determined time management always assuring my job as a Captain in the General Directory of Traffic at the Ministry of Interior is well looked after and attended, but giving enough time for training to fulfil my role as athlete too.

Of course, it is not always easy, but overall it is well managed.

Splitting my week into training 3 days a week in the water on my jet ski and another 3 days of training in the gym, walking or any other outdoor sport, all that after my official working hours end.

Through the love for jet skiing, my brother and another partner founded a garage specialized in Jet Ski motors and general maintenance and repairs of Jet Skis along with a Showroom.

We called it the ProRider Garage.

To be the best and improve from race to race a number of elements going into it.

My Jet Ski has to be well maintained, free of any technical faults, the willingness to train persistent, the skills I have established that keep on shaping for better and the support of my team and fellow crew members.

We have lost an entire championship in the past, because of spare part as cheap as 1$ that has been overlooked.

Another obstacle, I face every now and then, is that many think, riding a jet ski doesn’t require any intense and physical fitness or that it doesn’t need any financial funding, but quite the opposite, working on my strength is one of the main factors, to be able to handle the jet ski that has such a strong power.

The misconception of it being a dangerous sport, we assure that enough safety standards are applied to the jet ski and myself ensuring

They may call me Skinny Mo, but I am Mohammed Burbayea with a lot of strength, physically and mentally.

My love for Kuwait is a one of the main drivers and my passion for my job and my jet ski career.

I am not done yet,

MAKING WAVES!
